CYC - Yacht Section - Introduction
Welcome to CYC Yacht Section
Members of the CYC Yacht Section enjoy what must be one of the most comprehensive and active programmes, both on and off the water, of any yacht Club in the country.
We have over 500 memberships which include many families and around 400 boats.
Most of these are cruising yachts in the 7m-13m length range berthed in Chichester Harbour or one of the local marinas.
Each year our highly popular Cruising in Company programme enables yachts to sail together in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere to destinations both locally on the South Coast and across the Channel. The packed programme runs throughout the season from March to November and includes weekend and mid-week cruises together with longer cross-Channel excursions.
For those members with a competitive spirit we organise an informal Fun Race Series each season. This is designed for lightly-crewed cruising yachts and enables them to enjoy a degree of competitive sailing around simple courses with the prospect of a sociable evening at the end of the day.
The sailing activities are accompanied by an on-going Technical, Safety and Training programme which provides, via shore-based events and the Club newsletter, valuable support to Section members.
A key feature of CYC is its lively social scene and the Yacht Section has its own Social Programme as well as playing a full part in Club-wide events.
The activities of the Section are organised by the Yacht Section Committee which plans the Yacht Section Programme each year and works to ensure that members gain maximum enjoyment from their activities both on and off the water.
Our Section is made up of members with a great range of experience and ability - from competitors in the BT Global Challenge to complete novices wishing to “learn the ropes” and share in the enjoyment we all experience when on the water. If you would like to share in the CYC experience we would be delighted to hear from you. |
