Richard Gribbin and the circumnavigation

Richard led some 50 of us through the the ups and downs of his circumnavigation. It seems that much of what we overcome in getting across the channel is similar to these longer passages. The English Channel is more busy but it is crossed more quickly. Most of the circumnavigation sailing is downwind and you have to be careful of the wear and tear on the rig and sails. We learned about the hazards of storing stuff on deck – likely to go overboard if there is some heavy weather. Seasickness seems to be something that passes with time. The main requirements are time and money and a well found boat!
