Turbo Regatta fun in Strong Wind
Friday saw a group of 7 juniors, 6 Oppies and a Topper, compete in the Second Autumn Turbo Regatta. With winds of 20-25+ knots it was a trying day for all the sailors, with some coming ashore after the first race. After 3 races completed, each sailor took part it time trials from the pontoon, out to a buoy and back, to see who was the fastest.
2 of the more conservative Oppie sailors decided to call it a day at this point, and the other 5 went back out to complete one more race.
My thanks to Stephen Green and Katie Merryfield-Day for helping on Cyclone to give the sailors the opportunity to try committee boat starts, and thanks to Greg for helping support the sailors out on the water.
