Snowdrop Walk – 11 February
We all met at the Spotted Cow car park in Angmering and 28 of us set off for Highdown Hill which is part of the lower areas of the South Downs to the north of Ferring – between Worthing and Rustington.
Fortunately the weather was kind and we could see as far as the Isle of Wight to the West and through to Chichester cathedral spire then round to Arundel Castle and East to Brighton and the Severn Sisters/Beachy Head. What was also clear and visible was the Rampion windfarm which many will be aware is due to be expanded and a real feature if you are sailing down that part of the channel.
We then went into the Highdown chalk Gardens which gave everyone the opportunity to explore. It was fascinatingly created out of a chalk pit and lime kiln in the early part of the 20th century and has many rare plants.
We then returned the same way and met up for an enjoyable lunch at the pub.
Thank you to everyone who joined us.
