Burpham Again – 11 November 2023

Rolling along The South Downs

Burpham Again Ramble    11th November 2023

Rain all week, but on Saturday it stopped. We couldn’t believe it! We set off under blue skies and bright sunshine. What more could we have asked for?

We climbed up through Wepham  Woods  where the leaves on beautiful stands of beech trees were just starting to change colour. A wonderful place to stop and share 2 minutes of silence on Armistice Day.

We continued up to the highest point of the walk, where the trig point made a very convenient coffee table.  Clear skies ensured magical vistas across the Arun valley to Arundel castle, with the Isle of Wight beyond.

Occasional muddy patches appeared but given all the rain recently it could have been much worse.

We descended from the Downs, and onward  to the beautiful 11th century church in Burpham, and so on to The George pub and a delicious lunch.

Thanks to all the happy hikers who came on the walk.

We had fun a day,

Sue and Philip
