Report on the Folly Cruise

This year’s Folly Cruise was a little earlier than usual so it was reasonable to have anticipated some late summer warmth.  Hmm… Wednesday started well. A gentle north-easterly allowed some of us to sail over to Cowes Yacht Haven where, still enjoying sunshine, all contributed to a rather festive gathering for the pontoon party.  Participants made their own arrangements to dine – those who ate at Number 3 in Cowes were not disappointed.

We awoke on Thursday to the sound of rain. Foulies were duly donned, as sailors cursed foully the complication that their 30-minute journey to the Folly Inn was unduly extended by delays mooring. However, all seven remaining boats were safely accommodated on the walk ashore pontoon. Thereafter, in the relentless rain, there was sight nor sound of anybody until the team met up again for our meal in the evening. As ever the Folly staff did us proud, rounding off a day distinguished by its total lack of sun or warmth or dryness, but producing much jollity in the Inn.  Thursday we all went our separate ways, hopefully to dry off…

And finally a warm welcome to new cruisers in company Chris and Jenny on Remiga – the first of many we hope.
