SIDLESHAM HERITAGE LOOP
Leaders: David and Amanda Pearce david.pearce19@gmail.com 07905 452311
Start time 10:00 Maximum number 24
A 5.5 mile level walk (no stiles but maybe some mud) following parts of the Selsey Tram Way and Sidlesham Heritage Trail accompanied by local historian Dr Bill Martin. Learn about the railway that ran from Chichester to Selsey until 1935, the Land Settlement Association that set up estates so that redundant miners and dock workers could lead new lives here from 1936 until the 1990s, and do some bird spotting along the way. Beginning and ending at the Anchor Inn where we will have lunch and there will be a short break at the RSPB Pagham Harbour Visitor Centre where tea, coffee and toilets are available.
The Anchor is on the B2145 in Sidlesham, towards the northern end of the village. Please park there with consideration for other pub users and car-share if possible. Lunch will need to be pre-ordered and we will send more details and the menu nearer the date. Please note that the leaders will be away on holiday in remote places from 11 to 27 October so please don’t call during that period.
