Socials: CYC Ramblers – Bird Watching Walk
Meet RSPB car park Earnley. (near Bracklesham) Earnley Concourse PO20 7JL. There is a height barrier.
There are no toilets and not a lot of bushes! Exposed area – wrap up warm.
1000 start. Bring binoculars.
Walk round the Medmerry RSPB site approximately 4 miles. Flat walk with reasonable paths. Slow walk observing bird life on the way.
Coffee stop at the ‘Stilt Pool’ – (so called because Black winged Stilts nested there once – a rare bird for Britain – a 24 hour guard had to be mounted to protect the eggs from thieves!) where hopefully there will be some wintering ducks and geese.
At end of walk we will relocate to RSPB Pagham Harbour Visitor Centre (PO20 7NE) where there are toilets, picnic benches and coffee available. Bring your sandwiches. There is a small parking charge for non-RSPB members. Afterwards there will be short walk down to the hide if anyone wants to join me!
Please note: This walk may change – because of the current outbreak of Avian Flu we may have to move this walk to another area if there are reports of dead and dying birds.
Walk limited to 20 people
