Yachts: Bank Holiday Cruise
The Bank Holiday Cruise has been arranged to start at East Cowes on 1 May, with the marquee and bbq booked for outdoor tables of 6 or 2 households that evening, and then on to Island Harbour on Sunday 2 May.
It’s just falling midway between springs and neaps, so we should be carried up to Cowes nicely on Saturday with a very leisurely start from our marinas due to high water being around 15.30 BST, Portsmouth, on 1 May. I hope to leave Birdham around 12.30 to 13.00 subject to lock queues on a bank holiday weekend after our partial release from restrictions.
Then on Sunday, I’d suggest a gentle amble up the medina to Island Harbour around mid morning to midday. Most will be able to get in around 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 hours either side of high water (16.45), but if you are deep draughted double check! I’ve nothing planned for Sunday eve, but we could try and book outdoor tables at the marina restaurant if possible.
Departure will be a little later than I’d prefer on Bank Holiday Monday, due to high water at 1749, so I’ll be aiming to leave around lunchtime or sooner if water permits.
