Yachts: Cruise to Gosport Island Harbour and the Hamble
With HW Portsmouth at 12.39 BST on Monday 12th April, we can leave Chichester at a civilised hour to arrive at Premier Marina in Gosport before the worst of the spring ebb tide. We propose having a pontoon party in the evening starting at 5.30pm, as its early in the season. Please make your own arrangements for dining. On the Tuesday, with a high tide at 13.17, we can again have a civilised start to catch the tide up the Solent and River Medina to arrive at Island Harbour Marina near high water. A walk will be organised in the afternoon. We have booked tables at The Breeze restaurant for an evening meal, assuming Covid restrictions will by then allow. On Wednesday we sail to Port Hamble Marina. It is advisable to arrive near high tide or shortly after to avoid strong currents whilst mooring. High water Bursledon is at 13.40, so we would recommend leaving Island Harbour as soon as tidal depth allows, from about 11.30. We will probably have another pontoon party in the evening, and then make your own arrangements for dining. On Thursday we return to Chichester. With HW Portsmouth at 14.25 and an earlyish start we can fight the tide out of the Hamble before catching the tide down the Solent and up the harbour to our home marinas. We will hold a cruise briefing in the club at 9pm on Friday 9th April, which is a 2nd Friday Yacht Section Social.
