CYC Cross Channel Race
On the Friday before the last bank holiday in May we set course south to Cherbourg for our annual Cross Channel race. It is a great opportunity for those who have not Crossed the Channel before to do so with a group of boats and have the various customs/immigration requirements explained before you go. You can either return home from Cherbourg on the Sunday or Monday depending on weather/preference or join the Channel Islands cruise departing Cherbourg on Monday, 25th May. On Saturday afternoon we will organise a wine tasting at a local Cave De Vine, which has served us well in the past. Any wine you purchase during this event will be delivered to your boat. For the racing aspect of the crossing all you need to do is depart from Bembridge Ledge Cardinal Mark within a set start window and log your start and finish times. If the weather is not conducive to sailing, it is permissible to use your engine on this race so we are not drifting about mid channel when we would rather be in the bar. More information will be provided in the lead up to the race, where details of the customs and immigration requirements will also be circulated.
