CYC Round the Island Race

The opening race of the 2026 season unusually is the CYC Round the Island Race via Lymington. This due to tides and marina availability. On Saturday we will thunder off (or float off if there is little or no wind) in the general direction of Lymington for an overnight stay on the Dan Bran Pontoon with a group dinner arranged at The Mayflower. An early morning start will be required on Sunday to get down to The Needles to take advantage of the favourable tide home past St Catherine?s Point. If, as on the last few occasions the weather doesn?t play ball we will have a bit longer in bed with a course home round the north side of the island. All boats are welcome from the well-honed racing machines to the boozer cruisers. You do not need to be an experienced racer to take part. As long as you keep the Isle of Wight on your left hand side you are most of the way there. If both legs are completed three magnificent trophies are up for grabs. Detailed racing instructions will be sent out before the race. The anticipated start time on Saturday will be around 11:00 am with an early start on Sunday around 5:30 am.
