CYC Ramble 12th December : Loop through Charlton and East Dean walk

Loop through Charlton and East Dean walk.

The walk will start at 10:00 from Counters Gate car park, on Racecourse Road, near Goodwood.  It is at grid reference  SU898113,  on the south side of the road and there is a height barrier.  We will email those on the walk list a map showing the start location.

The route is a six mile undulating walk via the pretty villages of East Dean and Charlton. It does entail  three climbs with approx 1,000ft of ascent.  The walk makes use of many good and wide bridleways and there is only one stile!  Whilst there are places on the walk that would be slippery if wet, it is mostly on good surfaces.  One 10 minute section of the walk is on a slightly awkward side angle as we traverse one of the hill sides, those using poles may find one/them useful.

If there are clear skies there are some super views from the walk, which certainly gives just reward for the three climbs.  We are sorry that with the current situation we can’t include a pub lunch.  If anyone wants a gpx file of the route please email us and we will send it to you.

COVID SAFETY MEASURES

 

1 Please don’t come on the walk if you or any of your household have any symptoms of Covid 19 or if you or any of your household are self isolating.

2 In accordance with the new Tiers, please do not join the walk if you are currently resident in Tier 3.

3 Every Participant to bring own hand sanitiser and use before and after climbing over any stiles.

4 A designated person will be responsible for opening and shutting any gates.

5 “Rule of 6” to be strictly observed at any coffee/ lunch stops with no mingling between groups.
