Yachts: Shakedown Scuttle to Port Solent
With Itchenor high water at 15.40 on Saturday 13th April and 16.30 for the return on Sunday 14th, this is a great opportunity for anyone just getting back on the water for the season – or new to CYC cruising, as we were just a couple of years ago – to enjoy a chilled-out shakedown trip without having to get up with the lark. Some of you will already have “shaken down”, but for the rest of us this is a great opportunity (weather permitting) to make sure everything’s in fine working order for the rest of the season.
As Hermit draws 2m we’ll almost certainly be the last out of Chi and the first back, but otherwise the plan is simple: head out at a thoroughly civilised time on Saturday; meet up at Port Solent in the late afternoon for a pontoon party (or pub meet-up if the weather’s horrid); enjoy a convivial dinner at one of the many eateries at Port Solent in the evening; and head back at (again) a civilised time on the Sunday.
Obviously everyone is welcome, and last year I was pleasantly surprised (if not a little daunted) by the great turnout from CYC stalwarts! But in the event that you’re new to CYC and/or feeling a bit nervous about your first CYC outing this is especially for you. We’ll be having a briefing meeting in the bar on the Friday for anyone who wants to talk over their plans and compare passage notes, and I’ll also be very happy to chat with anyone before that as needed. Please get in touch via the Yacht Section WhatsApp group if you’d like to discuss further.
