Yachts: Southampton Water cruise to Marchwood & The River Hamble

On Saturday the cruise visits Marchwood Sailing Club at the head of Southampton Water. A HW Itchenor at 11:40 will allow a civilised depart time for the 30nm trip. Marchwood is the location of a small, owner run club where we have always had a great night together. The cruise includes seeing the delightful Netley Abbey, cruise liner spotting at Southampton docks and being close up to the huge container ships at the container terminal. Berthing involves rafting up on walk ashore pontoons that have water but no shore power. A pontoon party will be held followed by dinner together in the clubhouse.

On Sunday we will move on to Universal Marina in the morning. We may go for a stroll down river in the afternoon. In the evening we have booked Banana Wharf for dinner. For those returning to Chichester on Monday 5 August a depart is advised to make use of the 11:40 HW at Itchenor. Marchwood YC have now set a maximum number of boats for a rally to 15 and the maximum number of diners to 38.
