Yachts: CYC Pursuit Race
To make a weekend of it, the day following the Bramidge Trophy we will be having a race which is open to all CYC boats. This race is a little unusual in the fact that it is run as a pursuit race. As such our slowest boats get to start first whilst the fastest are held back. The idea is that we should all finish at about the same time. This obviously relies heavily on boats sailing to their handicaps, and the rather dodgy maths of the Racing Secretary, however nothing encourages you to tweak your sails more than the sight of a boat fast approaching your stern. It has also been known for some boats to arm themselves with buckets of water to dissuade any wannabe overtakers.
The start time will be around mid-morning and the course will take us around some marks in Hayling bay and possibly the Nab Tower, depending on the wind.
We will then come back into the harbour with the rising tide in the afternoon. This a great chance to try cruiser racing for the first time if you have not been before and want to try it for a day rather than joining for a whole weekend.
Please do give James a call or drop an email to racing.yachts.cyc@gmail.com if you would like any more information or if you have any questions.
