The Big Help Out CYC Litter Pick

Thank you to all our fantastic litter pickers, what a successful beach clean we had on Monday 8th May. About 30 of us from all sections, little people and our four-legged friends included set out from CYC towards Dell Quay. The weather was being reasonably kind – just a few spots of rain.

Our litter picking started almost immediately picking up in car parks and along the path. Along the beach there wasn’t too much rubbish, but we did find glass, dog poo bags, nappy sacks, bits of plastic, old rope, an old fishing rod and what looked like part of a rusted anchor.

We walked along to Dell Quay where we presented them with a CYC pennant and in return Dell Quay presented us with a commemorative mug.
We ended up with 5 large sacks of rubbish, which will be picked up and disposed of by CDC.

It was great to hear so much enthusiasm for the beach clean and it was suggested that we should do it as a regular thing. We will hope to organise another one around September / October time.

On returning to the club, we all enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch of sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini pizzas and fruit. Thank you to the kitchen staff for making lunch for us, it was very much appreciated by all.

Once again thank you to all who came along. Karen Cheeseman, RC Dinghy
