Bembridge Cruise
Published 15:03 on 17 May 2025
Following a week of changeable weather, we were fortunate on the Saturday morning to have a moderate easterly for the passage across to Bembridge Harbour. It was a good sail but with the wind going round to the north east and getting slightly stronger it was fairly bouncy going into the narrow harbour entrance and one you certainly wouldn't want to be going into in rough weather. With HW at around 1130 all 19 boats were safely moored up by late lunchtime in the marina.
A leisurely afternoon was then followed by the pontoon party before the majority made their way round to Brading Haven Yacht Club for supper.
BHYC is located at the west end of the harbour on the south side and made all 34 of us feel very welcome with the club decorated for the recent VE day celebrations. Special thanks go to all the team at BHYC - they showed they were well experienced in serving good food and drinks to a lot of people.
Sunday morning with high tide around midday meant those leaving for their home ports had to exit reasonably early although some were staying put to join the Commodores cruise. The sail back was as often the case a beat but nothing too bad ending a pleasant weekend.
With thanks to the attendees being Haraka, Dancing Deva, Kerry Dancer, Raven, Remiga, Arcadia, Sounio, Coco, April Folly, Brown Eyed Girl, Good Day Sunshine,Time Out,Galleons Lap, Yalla,Ursa Minor,Perfectly Fine,Flyer and Blue Pearl.
