Another action packed weekend for the race crews at the Head of the River Ouse Race on Sept 26th.
The race always attracts many clubs along the south coast. A total of 27 boats participated this year, compromising of Cornish Gigs, Celtic Longboats and Skiffs.
Our Celtic Longboat 'Cygnet' was towed from here at CYC to the start of this 10k race at Newhaven Port.
The ladies team raced upstream with the tide to the beautiful town of Lewes. Coxed by Matt, Lindsey, Katie, Kathy and Clare, worked hard to complete in 50.43 minutes - just 3.43 mins behind the winning team!
The Men's team then launched at Lewes. Coxed by Martin, Pete, Nick, Steve and James reached the finish line in Newhaven Marina in only 45.18 minutes, some 2.37 mins behind the winners in a hard fought race.
