Swanwick Cruise Report

The dry weather this Summer remarkably continued for our cruise to Swanwick.

It was the first cruise that I had arranged and it was well attended by the full complement of 10 yachts with a further 3 yachts able to join us on the day in Swanwick who were on the reserve list, so 13 in total.  It showed that even if you are on the reserve list for a cruise it is still possible to fully participate in the event, keep in touch with the Cruise Leader and they will do what they can to accommodate you

I was disappointed that Swanwick had us dotted about all over the marina, whereas on the rallies I have previously been on we have all be on the same visitors pontoon.  This was a shame as it made us all somewhat disconnected -  a lesson learned about Swanwick. Deputy Cruise leaders Richard and Clare arrived early and helped arriving yachts with their lines, when they could reach them in time !

Yachts arrived from various destinations at various times in a brisk Easterly breeze, all but one making the pontoon party where drinks and pre-dinner nibbles were provided with the help of Richard and Clare.   The sun was hidden behind the clouds but it was a pleasant temperature and it remained dry, unlike most of our glasses !

We did have the full complement of yachts for the onward stroll to The Old Ship where we were served our pre-ordered meals which was all done very efficiently by their team, though Jerry is still hunting for the chicken which should have been in his pie…

The following morning yachts dispersed to various destinations, the ones heading East had the still lively Easterly breeze to contend with which meant for quite a bumpy ride home
