The Launch of Tintanic II
CYC Member Major Mick is back on the fundraising campaign dressed in his unmissable Union Jack Jacket and today marked the launch of Tintanic II by His Grace - The Duke of Richmond. His latest rowing adventures will raise money for St Wilfrids Hospice in Chichester, with the aim to achieve at least £12,000 in donations. This will take his total raised for charity to over £100,000, following his rowing voyages with Tintanic I (in aid of an orphanage in the Ukraine).
In front of the British and World Press and bathed in sunshine, His Grace launched Major Mick and Tintanic II from the slipway of CYC and started the first journey towards achieving 20 miles of rowing in the vessel and taking his total distance to 500 miles. Major Mick, accompanied by Cyclone and rowers from CYC & Dell Quay, rowed around the lake with crowd of supporters cheering him on, which also included the MP for Chichester Jess Fuller-Brown.
Major Mick is hoping to row the whole of the north coast of the Isle of Wight, previously he had written to the Royal Family to see if he could row in the lake at Buckingham Palace.
We wish Major Mick and Tintanic II the best of luck for this yea'rs fundraising effort. if you are in the Solent, keep an eye out for the Union Jacks.
