An exciting start to the peak sailing season at CYC - Easter, St Georges Day & 80th Anniversary of VE Day

Published 16:34 on 7 May 2025

It has been a busy few weeks here at CYC.

We have had our first section cruises and there have been plenty of activities on and off the water at the Club. CYC hosted three exciting weekend events, starting with Easter, then St George's day & most recently the 80th Anniversary of VE Day. If you missed all the action, see below for a catch up of the entertainment we put on for all our members and visiting sailors.

Easter Weekend

Easter Sunday hosted the annual Easter Carvery, complete with an Egg Scavenger Hunt.  The Carvery Lunch was very well attended with over 160 people enjoying Andy's team succulent Lamb, Honey Roast Gammon and Turkey. Nearly 40 children left with an Easter Egg after completing the Scavenger Hunt set by Emma.

St George's celebration Weekend on April 26th & 27th

A great weekend was enjoyed by all.

We had Knights from the Sussex Medieval Society re-enacting battle in the Garden and safely interacting with the Children.

On Sunday, alongside our superb Carvery, it was time for Archery & Axe Throwing. Axe and Bowman set up targets in the Garden, and everyone was able to have a go at both bow and arrow and axe throwing!

VE Day 80th Anniversary

Saturday 3rd May saw CYC celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day in the stunning setting of our waterside gardens. We were even treated to a splendid display from a Spitfire, which made the celebrations even more special.

The Kitchen & Bar was kept busy throughout the day with a busy lunch service followed by a splendid afternoon tea, with freshly made sandwiches, petits fours and scones with fresh cream and jam.

The Silhouettes entertained the crowd in the Garden for over 3 hour with their VE day special show, with songs from the war time and across the decades, several period costume changes and perfect dance routine. A great show indeed.

Dates for your Diary

Monday 26th May (B/H) Family Fun Day and Open day. Fun and games in the Garden, water activities, DJ & hopefully a visit from the RNLI subject to emergency duties. From 9:30am to 4pm.

Spread the word and bring your friends.
