Lymington Cruise May 2023
A number of boats started out for Lymington on a beautiful Friday morning
from Gosport and Chichester Marinas.Blue Haven’s crew were treated to a
sighting of a warship departing Portsmouth.
The sea was like glass and the sun shone to make a really pleasant journey. Callisto and crew had arrived on Thursday evening and had a rafting plan for the Dan Bran Pontoon.
Escapade was next to arrive and moored astern Callisto. Then the fun began. First we had Plan B, then C,D,E,F and G from the Marina Office and Harbour Master.
Eventually all boats moored successfully and we were able to enjoy a Friday evening drinks party aboard Mascaret with Jackie and David as hosts.
Following drinks there was a Paella tryout by Nola and Himalia’s crew,
in fairness the prawns looked delicious.
Others repaired to The Mayflower for a very pleasant evening.
The weather on Saturday continued to be fine so some walked the seawall towards Key Haven and Milford on Sea, while others enjoyed the delights of Lymington Market. Kalives with Peter and Pilar arrived in time for drinks on the pontoon before walking over to Lymington Yacht Haven.
The wind started to pick up and combined with the regular Wightlink Ferries lead to a fairly rocky evening for sleeping. On Sunday morning the flotilla was awake early due to a strong Northerly that made the trip back quite “lumpy” . Herbie and crew made an especially early start and were back in Chi before most people were up. Arkaig was next to leave followed shortly by the rest of the rally. Thankfullly everyone arrived back in their home marinas without incident despite ‘The Cowes Chop’ being pretty bad!
