Stoughton Downland Walk – 25 November

Well earned coffee break after the ascent
Twenty six of us met at the Hare and Hounds pub at Stoughton on a gloriously sunny, if chilly morning.
Boots on, lunch ordered, warm tops donned and off we set. We followed the Monarch’s Way uphill on to Stoughton Down admiring the unfolding views back down the valley as we climbed. The walk then took us through a stretch of woodland before we emerged  on a ridge with great views on both sides. Time for a coffee stop!   Some recent tree felling provided some convenient seats on which to rest the legs.
Following our coffee break our route continued along the ridge towards Bow Hill farm from where we began our gentle descent and back to Stoughton where we enjoyed lunch. Considering the rains of late the underfoot conditions were really good, with not too much of the slippy sliding stuff.
Thanks to all who joined us. We were lucky to have had such unbelievable weather for the end of November.
