Racing

Chichester Yacht Club has a strong history of encouraging racing, in both Yachts and Dinghies. The club holds regular race events throughout the year. CYC is a popular venue for open meetings with people travelling from across the country to take part in the events.

Dinghy Racing

Dinghy racing is organised for CYC members most weekends from April to October. Standard Race Series run on a Saturday or Sunday over four to six weekends, with two or three races a day. We also run an Evening Series over the summer. The majority of races are in Handicap Fleets. All classes of dinghy sailed in the Club are welcome to join in the racing.

For those Yacht members with a competitive spirit we organise an informal Fun Race Series each season. We have adopted the RYA National Handicap for Cruisers (NHC) to calculate handicaps. The racing is designed for lightly-crewed cruising yachts and enables them to enjoy a degree of competitive sailing around simple courses with the prospect of a sociable evening at the end of the day.

Open Meetings

Open meetings are held throughout the year for a number of classes, including Merlin Rocket, Solo, Europe  Laser, 2000, Topper and Optimist. There is also a Chichester Yacht Club Regatta. Dinghy Week, Frozen Toe & Snowflake Series are all Open Meetings.

Dinghy Week

Dinghy Week is a relaxed 5 day programme of racing, training and social activities. There is a particular focus on families and juniors, but extensive adult participation! This is an Open Meeting, and all sailors are welcome. You can enter for the full week, or just join in on a daily basis. Dinghy Week 2019 is Wednesday 31 July to Sunday 4 August

Chichester runs 2 Open Winter  Series, Frozen Toe (November-December) and Snowflake (January-March). These popular events regularly attract over 80 boats and are normally every other Sunday (depending on tides).
