 Welcome to the Topper Fleet at Chichester Yacht Club

The Topper is a popular single handed boat, and attracts a lot of interest from young people. The Topper is a great boat for those growing out of their Optimists, or just starting to sail but a bit too big for the Optimist.

Topper sailors are encouraged to join in the wide range of Club Training that we offer at CYC. There are sessions from those who want to get out on the water and practice in a fun environment through to sessions for those wanting an introduction to racing or more advanced racing techniques.

In 2020, we are once again proud to host the ITCA Southern Traveller event on Sunday 5th July, with the ITCA Open Coaching on Saturday 4th January.

The Southern Area Topper Association organise a number of Open Coaching and Traveler events around the Southern region and are a great way to improve racing and meet other Topper sailors.

The Topper is an RYA pathway class, which means that you can apply for a regional or national training squad and benefit from professional coaching during the winter, ready for competition in the spring and summer. Details of RYA Junior Squads can be found here and give you a fantastic opportunity to become – if not quite an Olympian – a very skilled sailor with the confidence to compete at national level.
